Yes! This time, we’ll provide some brief information about one of the oldest mosques in Lombok, the Ancient Bayan Beleq Mosque, located on Jalan Labuan Lombok, Bayan Village, Bayan District, North Lombok Regency.
The Bayan Beleq Mosque is estimated to have been built around 500 years ago, though its exact origins are unknown. One account suggests it was constructed by Sheikh Gaus Abdul Razak, an Islamic preacher in Bayan, around the 16th century. Another version, as stated by Raden Palasari, the mosque’s caretaker, claims it was built in the 15th century by Sunan Prapen.
Although it is called a mosque, the Bayan Beleq Mosque is not used like typical mosques. It is reserved for celebrations such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, the Prophet’s birthday, Islamic New Year, and other major religious activities.
